RAID Storage Arrays

RAID Storage System,  are great for storage,  but by default they are not by definition a secure data system. What does this mean ? RAID Systems are designed to combine multiple disk for either speed or redundancy to protect data. But This does not mean it creates Data backups, in case of accidentally deleting files. RAID Systems (except RAID 0 – a system that protects nothing if a drive fails, everything is lost) The other RAID levels RAID 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and Software RAID systems based on FreeNas, UnRaid Server,  or a ZFS storage array all offer a redundancy to protect your current data as your system runs, in case a hard drive fails (All Hard Drives Fail at some point, it doesn’t matter if you bought them a day ago or 10 years a ago, they can and will fail.) –But RAID Storage, NAS, SAN, ZFS, UNRAID don’t automatically backup up your data.

Why This is important ? Changes in Data, files, documents should be backed up in case of accidentally deleting files, Viruses, Ransomware, Spyware, Male ware and Malicious users.

BASIC Recommendation: Whatever RAID level or Storage option you might be using, always backup the data files.
